THE RED STRING
photo video

On my three months residency in Krems, I was living in the building across the top-security Stein prison, housing some of Austria's worst offenders. Most of my windows were overlooking the prison. That view was strictly forbidden to photograph, so that was the forbidden view. In time, I started to feel more comfortable, but never completely relaxed facing it.

The other view, view from the terrace, was completely different - overlooking the Danube river, hills on the other riverside and, the most important to me, a big piece of sky. Watching all kind of spectacles on that sky, I noticed one thin red string, constantly present in my photo frame. I shared my view of freedom with that thin red string. And I though: It's kind of sad that the only thing sharing my view of freedom is actually not free - it's tide to the terrace fence.
